in honor of halloween, i decided to post a little something on the decorations in our house. we neverrrr put anything up before october 1 and this year was no different. we also decided we'd probably keep it up until about thanksgiving since its all sqaushes, pumpkins.. and isnt "real" halloween decor. as in jane at sea of shoes and her crazy-scary hanging spiders. check back soon to see the pictures from tonight!
heres pictures from when we headed down to the public beach in malibu to take some shots before the sun went down. thought i'd try out these jeans.. they seemed to match the location pretty well and i dont know how practical they are to wear at any place aside from the sandy beach. the wind was murder on my mane, but it felt good because boyy was i hott in that outfit..
heres (mo) that i spotted from behind walking down fourth street near santa monica beach. i was completely taken back by her great fashion. i mean, she has to be top 5 most fashionable girls i've seen walking down the street ever, and top 1 in cali. anyways, turns out shes an aspiring designer. i was excited to talk with her and she makes VERY good harem trousers as you can see. she has a blog too if you want to check it out. shes just starting, but who knows? she might make it big soon with those amazing pants
went to asia de cuba while in LA.. amazinggg. we blew so much freaking money- but the portions were gianttt. the place was absolutely gorgeous although the photos dont do it any kind of justice, although i did find one online that conveys the "cuban-miami" theme the restaurant has. we got these giant sea scallops and a beef carpaccio salad for appetizers. then for dinner we got some killer lamb, duck "chops< and avocado salad rice. and yes, we went ALL OUT and got a massive dessert- coconut-banana cake with dulce de leche ice cream. let me tell you, it was totally worth every damn calorie in the cake. so definitely a reccommendation! you can check out an extended menu HERE and heres some pictures i found online- (inside- the white is not so pristine as it looks, but more miami and south beach white) (the lounge outside) sorry the LA posts keep on coming.. im so slow on loading up pictures.. (always)alanna
went out to an awesome sushi place called musha when we were in downtown santa monica and it was superr yummyy. we were supposed to go to the edison.. but we didnt ever make it and instead went to a friends house for a get together after dinner. it was a lot of fun, and i got called egyptian girl all night. seriously, whats with all the names relating to the middle east lately?
meet shane walsh, a duncan quinn employee: duncan quinn boutique on west third street:
i spotted his shoes, and immediately thought of three things: the sartorialist, milan, and fashionable men and knew i HAD to ask to take his picture. the style is impeccable. they have a gorgeous little shop tucked into west third street in west hollywood, and he was so friendly. they have a branch in new york too which i bet is even more amazing. so if you need a nice suit and you want excellent service, looks like duncan quinn is the place to go..
so it was spirit week in my highschool, and i attempted to conform to the "theme" of each day. however, i couldnt bring myself to look tacky and tried to incorporate some kind of fashion while still looking the part.. which wasnt as easy as it sounds. so, heres some humor for you.. dont laugh too hard "nerd day" "dress as your grade's theme day; mine was rock 'n'roll (the girl on the left went with a vintage leather motorcycle look- classic)" (the girl on the right's theme was pop and she dressed as hannah montana) .. and here's some kiss characters (thats a pete wentz lookalike's head in the left corner haha) school color day (gold- super hard since i remembered latee the night before and couldnt go buy anything gold)
wore this in los angeles walking down the promenade and was ecstatic as my feet reaped no bad side effects of heels later thanks to these superr comfortable wedges. took the pictures right before i changed for dinner and almost fell trying to get the look in the second picture. got a lot of questions about the shoes. they're a bit strange, yes. but they're also totally japanese with the tights and i loved the look. (rockwear dress, heritage 181 tank, qupid wedges, h&m tights, 21 bag and sweater)
heres a few shots of vacayy in LA. i wish i had taken more pictures of us, but somehow we didnt get into many of the pics.. must have been because the people didnt look friendly enough to want to take a picture for us haha
the inside of milk in which i found an AMAZINGGGG bra: a star on hollywood blvd. excuse my lame-ness, i had to be touristy and go to this street: LA ink: \ a cousin i met up with there: the ivy:
we went to opening ceremony and mygosh, it was nothing short of my wildest dreams. the place, the clothes, the people. everything was absolutely amazing. i wanted to just call humberton and ask to buy his store right there. i bet the tokyo store which apparently is like 7 floors is like the sickest thing everrrr. they didnt let me take pictures of course so as not to steal their amazing sense of creativity so i don't have anything to show you guys. but just trust me, it is SO worth the drive. and where the wild things are collection- whoa. it is KILLER! here are a few pictures of OC i found online:
took these on the roof when we got to los angeles thursday night. the sun was just going down and it made for some really good shots. the outfits nothing special, just what i wore in the airport. i thought i was going to be ridiculous in a fur coat and i didnt end up wearing it much farther than the car, but i was completely surprised by the abrupt change in temperature as the sun sinks in santa monica. i could have easily gotten by in a mink without being a trace of warm or uncomfortable, surprising enough.. (jbrand jeans, zara pumps)
so, the valley is amazing.. and im absolutly lovingggg quaint santa monica. we've done a lot of shopping, a lot of people watching, and a lot of good eating. when we landed on thursday, we headed over to zara in santa monica and seriously- it was HUGE. the zara in atlanta doesn't even compare.. so pretty much i spent all my money right then. we wandered down on main and got pizza at this amazing italian place and it was to DIE for. yesterday we headed over to zara again, and met up with my cousin and gave him a whole new wardrobe- he looked amazing after. then we went to milk where the clothing was nothing short of perfection. i got this amazing bra that im so excited about. later we finally headed into LA right to the center of the TOURISTSS! hollywood blvd is SCARY. im pretty much traumatized now because the creepy people kept grabbing me.. thanks to my friends who casually told me "that i would be fine in a skirt and 4 inch heel boots"... i dont think so! i was too scared that i was going to be offered money because everyone waas looking at me like i was a prostitute haha. i didnt look trashy at all.. but standing next to like a trillion asian tourists wearing jeans, tennis shoes, and fanny packs, i definitely stood out. after conquering my meltdown over there, we headed back to the pad to change and go to dinner. we grabbed a bite at asia de cuba and ohmygosh, it was so fabulous i cant even begin to describe it. i took a few pictures that i promise to post soon, but let me forewarn you- nothing would do it justice.. you just have to go and see it. tonight we're meeting up with some friends to head to dinner and the edison, which thanks to ALANNA for recommending- im sure it will be killer! heres a post from a little while back in the mean time of me uploading the pics:
like every other girl remotely interested in fashion.. i've been completely enamored by the recent "side braid" trend on the runway thanks to the ever-fabulous alexander wang and decided to try it out (heritage 81 tank, bandeu top, DIY studded vest)
this DIY was crazy easy and took me seriously about 10 minutes. while cooking dinner, i saw something on television about vintage vests and wah-lah- STUDS! : the perfect combination to restore any faded jean disaster. enjoy!
the inspiration for this outfit came straight from the most killer artists alive- the spice girls and shakira. i went into the city today looking for some new heels at a "store closing sale". turns out, they weren't lying.. the store really was closed. i'm going to try going back again tomorrow; such a dissapointment.. (skull&bone jeans, colombian scarf (worn as wrap), DIY belt, diva pumps, ebay hat, old navy blouse)
so excited to head off to LA friday.. promise to post pictures while im there! xx (always)alanna
p.s. i've been requested to do a scarf tutorial and i'm so happy to oblige to what my readers want! to wear a scarf as a wrap, fold the scarf at the diagonal so it now looks like a triangle. then. Drape the (obtuse angle on your hip) tip of the triangle on the side of your body and tie the two end of the triangle together on the opposite side of your body (your other hips). then you can add a chain by simply attaching on one side of your body and letting it drape or however you'd like to wear it!
