a 2009 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund top ten finalist, gary graham has been designing since 1999 when he started his line in the basement of a tribeca flatiron building. staying true to his original vision, the designer has continued to produce those designs which fulfill one vision, "it's as if a teenage girl took her grandmother's dresses... and put bleach stains on them." Graham's line is inspired by Nancy Spungen and Imogene Coca with the results looking like faded frocks, trousers, slouchy knits, and varying textures that stray "outside the lines." this inspiration undoubtedly springs from his studio also which, like his first studio, is in tribeca. the studio is made to look like the brooklyn academy of music backstage and is jam packed full of pulleys and ropes. but one things for sure, this designer has a vision.. and lets be honest, its pretty damn good.
