shiny jewels make me melt.

just found this fabulous spread. i dont know where your downfalls are, but mine is DEFINITELY jewelery. im ALL about the accessories- rings, bangles, earrings.. whatever it is, im all eyes. i still remember the first thing i got- christmas last year, i opened the last gift under the tree and it was my first watch. a beautiful silver and gold tudor rolex. my heart absolutely melted..
heres a picture-

*sorry its so freaking blurry. my camera captures people and since there was no people and i couldnt figure out how to change the setting, it wouldnt focus. and besides, a picture wouldn't do it justice, its too great.. haha
(you'll never catch me without it on. so instead of "wheres waldo", go play "wheres the watch" in my pics, and you will find it!)
anyways, so when i saw this gorgeous spread in the June issue of Amica, i was enthralled. absolutely amazed with the level of creativity these kind of jewels pose. seriously, the placement is fabulous, the stones stunning. everything about it makes me weak at the knees. hope everyone enjoys it as much as i did!

we went to last resort in downtown athens and athfest was going on which is like where they take the whole downtown and kind of close it off for outdoor concerts and they open up all the bars and stuff and its really a lot of fun- there's a lot of stuff to do.but anyway, so as it goes, we made reservations at this supposedly awesome seafood place and i walked in and it totally took me by surprise and im sure the food was good, but it was really casual, so we ended up at the other restaurant (last resort) and the wait was an HOUR. but we had a few drinks at the bar before and the bartender was adorable, so it was entertaining. i wish i had taken pictures of the food- it was delectable! and gorgeous- but it totally slipped my mindd until it was gone :( mom had bourbon salmon on lentil rice and leeks and i had tenderloin with chile salsa, potatoes, and oven roasted asparagus.. DELICIOUS!
anyways, thought i'd share on my fabulous night with you guys! hope everyone enjoyed their saturdays. muahhhh
xoxo

a fashion crisis- how to wear suspenders without looking totally ridiculously punk or boy-ish. so, heres an idea that falls somewhere between the two.
-also, i dont know if you guys have ever heard of chictopia- its a fashion website for aspiring designers... or just anybody with ideas who need somewhere to express them. you can post photos and people comment, rate them... and give all kinds of feedback. its an excellent way to meet people similar to yourself without just blogging.
check back soon for some DIY ideas.. i have a few things im working on!

this has to be a favorite outfit of mine. its perfect for the summer or the winter if you throw on a leather jacket. and its so damn appealing. ugh i just love it
i had a good mondayy, which is like a first. i went to work, and then i lifted weights and checked out the eye candy at the gym mhhmmmm, and then my plans kinda fell through tonight-- but no big deal. so im watching gg re-runs and drinking caramel truffle coffee.. sex IN MY MOUTH. the BEST coffee EVER! its so nice to relax since i have the house to myself this week while my brother is in china! i will post pictures when he returns.. which should be wicked interesting. i dont think china would be in my top choices of places to travel because i hear its so dirty, but nonetheless, awesome experience. speaking of going places, hopefully im going back home, to colombia, in october.. dad just let me know today hes looking for some tickets, so im superrr pumped about that. seriously, if you want to learn about the world AND discover yourself- travel. its so therapeutic, and yeah it can be expensive, but you can definitely work off of a budget too (thats the way we do!). anyways, maybe sometime soon i can post a few travel hotspots for you guys to check out in case you're going to hit up any major cities soon (i know sea of shoes blogger, jane is currently in tokyo- check out her fabulous pics @ http://seaofshoes.typepad.com/)..
live life BIG.

high waisted jeans

so, after flipping through the clearance rack and finding (YAY!) a pair of high waisted jeans.. FINALLY; my mother proceeded to tell me that they were a) horrible b)make me look fat and c)i would never wear this outrageous trend. little did she know. they were a STEAL and i wore them within a week. so this is how it goes- did i or did i not pull them off? negative feedback totally accepted. and honest feedback, because we have a bet on this. i did get compliments, so im feeling pretty confident about them. anyways, let me know your opinions guys.

so this is definitely by far the coolest thing i've ever done. it was reallyyyy time consuming but (SO) worth it. and it wasnt hard either
how-to: i bent a bobby pin back so i had a sharp edge, but you can use a seam ripper or whatever is convienient. i started by cutting a hole about 3 inches wide parallel to the bottom of the jeans so like horizontal (NOT VERTICAL) and then i simply started pulling out the threads and made it larger until the desired hole size. as i went along i cut the vertical threads so it was less tangly and easier to manage. then at the end i studded them with (GET THIS) a bedazzler. thats like one of those machines little kids use when they're 5 years old to jewel their jean jackets. but ive gotten a MILLION compliments so far and even offers from people so they could give me a pair for me to do and sell them back. ridiculous, right? so obviously they're popular. and now you dont have to worry about finding the perfect jeans, because you can just make them!
check out childhood flames for tutorial.
(camille) has some wicked cool DIY.
enjoyy!

day FIVE.

i actually think this one might be my favorite outfit. its extremely versatile. its one of those outfits that works pretty much whenever, and wherever. its a bit wintery, i do admit, but its also a little off the shoulder, and the skirt isn't too long, so it can be a bit springy (although its black and leather). it can be worn both in the office, and afterwards (at those fabulous parties! or simply for drinks.. even coffee).

(unknown shirt, topshop skirt, steve madden wedges, vintage pearls)
the shoes are great, little wedges that are practical, comfortable, AND adorable! and the pearls just throw together the business look, but of course you can carry a pendant necklace in your purse and stilletos to switch right after work before you meet up with that sexy guy next door.. when you work (for me in about 10 years) hahah

p.s. check back soon for the DIY destroyed jeans- something you absolutely can't miss!

Saturday, June 13

day FOUR.

follow me- Follow my blog with bloglovin´
this outfit was inspired by a spread in elle of chloe sevigny. sheer genius. anyways, its a good idea to throw in some color to make an outfit really stand out. yes, its appropriate to wear black and white many times, but it also can get a little boring, so whatever it is, accessorize!

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

(zara dress, gap ribbon belt, michael korrs boots)
color block accessories- any ribbon can be made into a belt, a headband (blair waldorf stlye!), a necklace (if strung with a few beads- esp. pearls)..

Friday, June 12

day THREE.

this is a dress that i threw a high wasted skirt on top of.. since its not always so easy to find a cute shirt (have to mix it up a bit!) and it totally worked. i wore it with some matching heels and viola.. business casual.

day three (obviously) for everybody! hope you guys are enjoying these outfits and being inspired to dress for success! if anyones interested, teen vogue online is hosting a few contests and such for all you fashionistas (includes essay contests to win a trip to new york, snapshot contests for a chance to be in the magazine... maybe even a blog contest (?) I HOPE! so make sure to check out all the opportunities you guys have in this amazing world of fashion (even though we live in America- don't dwell on that fact too long) haha. i don't have much to say today. sorry im rushing off so fast, i need to pack! hope everyones making successful use of their networking skills- good luck!

Thursday, June 11

day TWO

this is from the vena cava diy post where i un-attached the skirt because i liked it too much and wore it as a high wasted skirt. i just wore it with a plain tank and a little blazer on top to transform it from business casual to business formal. which is totally what i was looking for without having to suffer through wearing suit (which i can absolutely just not bring myself to buy.. or wear in the near future). I put a belt on top of the blazer because im a busy girl who likes to accessorize and it was a bit too plain..

(my mom's blazer, old navy tank, a skirt i made (from the vena cava DIY dress, my mom's belt, encore shoes (not sure on the brand), forever 21 clutch)

this is the outfit on the second day of my internship.. which is going great! have any of you guys heard of little red book? it might be solely based out of georgia but i heard a few things about it so i was curious on getting some feedback..
by the way..
trend of the day- VINTAGE. check out the stores in your area for hand crafted items. originality and uniqueness is KEY

Wednesday, June 10

day ONE.

i think this is probabaly going to be my favorite outfit of the five because while its totally professional, its also a lot of my kind of style with the bigg, busy necklace and the off the shoulder shirt (a trend i cant get enough of). i wore it with a high waisted skirt (like every other outfit.. haha) to make it more sleek and looking like a (dress kindof thing). and i wore it with these GORGEOUS clunky pumps that are leather that i bought on a bargain (FABULOUS!)

(american apparel dress, forever 21 skirt, nine west heels, wetseal belt)

hey guys! sorry i haven't posted in a while. im doing an internship at UGA and i haven't had wifi... lame. but anyways, i just wanted to make sure that i hit on all areas of the fashion spectrum so all of you guys can be successful business women doing whatever you're doing.
1.)so, for the next five days im going to showcase outfits that are both classy AND professional.
2.)i just wanted to get you guys onto thrillist. seriously, it's the most informative entertainment site on the web. its based out of refunery29 which advertises the site. thrillist is something you sign up for on an e-mail list and it sends you e-mails whenever you want (daily, weekly, and monthly) for any major city in the United States so YOU can get in on all of the hot new stuff (food, parties, concerts, fashion...)
3.)also, today we visited fuzebox/studioplex studios in the ATL to see into the entertainment and music business my internship group. i learned all kinds of cool stuff and i even may have gotten hooked up with a girl who works there for some fashion opportunities in my town. it was WICKED cool, like no joke.

&the lesson of the day? NETWORK! (meeting people so you can expand your "network" so you're always in the know- because if you haven't noticed, its all about WHO you know). so, get yourself out there and SELL your ideas. trust me, people WILL buy.

Friday, June 5

so, on the grunge.
after i searched for 312958439 days, i finally found a pair. yet, i have to say that i wasn't totally satisfied with the level of destruction these jeans posed. so, i decided to make my own pair (check back soon for a DIY post and directions video). but, i did model these out to dinner with my family for graduation
shirt from colombia (my home!), forever 21 jeans, steve madden wedges (aren't they fabulous?!)
the next time you take a shopping trip, try to find something to contribute to what it seems ALL my recent posts have been about- GRUNGE. torn jeans, leather jackets, studded accessories, whatever you can find. vintage usually works the best, and remember to make it your OWN. be original, be beautiful, be fabulous, be confident

*smile, and people will think you have something to hide which makes you automatically interesting (paris hilton)

Thursday, June 4

let me just begin with saying. summer is FINALLYY here! and i, myself am wicked excited!
so, i've put it upon myself to keep you guys updated on everything you need to survive WHEREVER you are!

GEOMETRIC PATTERNS & SHAPES. like this crazy-cool top i picked up yesterday that wraps in the back. its ideal for small bust, but seriously. geometry works on ANYBODY (theres SO many ways to wear it)

scarf look # 1 modeled by.. my mom! (forever 21 top, vintage scarf)

SCARVES worn as wraps. total pool attire (and i even went to the store in it!) and totally the best (kept) secret EVER. even though im letting you guys in on it. everyones going to rave, and all you need is to just smile and say thank you. NEVER, NEVER reaveal your secrets (OR sources)!

scarf look #2 (forever 21 dress, h&m pearls, wetseal scarf, charlotte russe shoes) scarf look # 3 (hollister shirt, my mom's scarf from i dont know where..)

CROAKIES. (or whatever brand you may desiree!)- they're these fabulous sunglass holders (rope things) so you can wear them around your neck, or on your head and they wont fall off, or on your car mirror.. simply fabulous!

*TIP: soak all your bathing suits in diluted white distilled vinegar.. and they won't fade in the sun! so you'll have vibrant, beatiful bathing suits from summer to summer.
TIP: brew a superstrong batch of black tea, and let it cool. then soak a washcloth in the tea and place it under each armpit for 5 minutes. if you do this nightly for 2 weeks, the tannic acid in the tea will permanently reduce your sweat production- so you'll smell yummyy all the time!
TIP: steep 3 bags of black tea in 2 cups of hot water until it cools and pour the tea over your hair. let it soak for 10 minutes, and then rinse your hair. this will keep your hair from fading during the summer
